BLUE NOTE RECORDS: BILL FRISELL - VALENTINE
I have been so fortunate to get to work with Bill Frisell in varying creative capacities over the years. During that time I have come to know him as one of the most generous, creative, and kind souls I have ever met. Valentine is the 3rd album art package I have had the privilege of working on for Bill, and this one features the paintings of his lovely wife Carole d’Inverno throughout. We kept things simple, leaving Carole's art in the driver's seat as an invitation to take a ride with Valentine. I highly suggest you take her up on it! The music is beautiful, intimately capturing a trio that includes Rudy Royston and Thomas Morgan. I've found the entire album to be something of salve for modern times, but perhaps the most poignant and timely track is Bill's interpretation of "We Shall Overcome."
